Traditional Sash Windows
Sash windows have been a popular choice in Britain since the 18th century. They work by one of more sections, supported by cords/chains and counterweights sliding over other sections.
Our traditional Box Sash Windows have been designed to reflect original Sash windows as closely as possible. We love it when we hear that people can’t tell visually our windows apart from the originals. This means they are perfect for period properties whether Georgian, Victorian or Edwardian.
Our windows are all made bespoke to your individual size requirements, using engineered timber to avoid the traditional problems of warping, twisting and rotting. This means the difference inside your home will be dramatic. Triple draught strips stop the windows rattling and the double glazing minimises heat loss and condensation.
Your windows will arrive painted in your chosen colour or stain and will require minimal on-going maintenance.
Engineered timber
We use engineered timber on all our sash windows.
Engineered timber is created by laying layers of solid wood together with the grain going in opposite directions. This creates a remarkably strong and rigid material which means that our windows never bend or warp, which is a traditional weakness of Sash windows.
Double glazing
Sash windows traditionally were infamous for being draughty and losing heat. We have solved these problems by installing insulation strips and double glazing. All our windows have hi spec double glazing fitted as standard, which guarantees high levels of thermal insulation to keep you cosy and warm while saving you money.
Security
Traditionally Sash windows weren’t very secure. We’ve addressed this by fitting all glass from the inside so it can’t be removed from the outside, fitting limit stops so they can’t be opened too far and fitting 2 key lockable fitch catches(which keeps the insurance man happy)
Micro-porous paint
To maximise the life time of your windows, we use micro-porous paint, which gives great protection yet needs virtually no maintenance. Our paints are available in over 200 RAL shades and can be matched to both Farrow and Ball and Fired Earth colours to co-ordinate with your other colour schemes.
Ironmongery
To maintain the traditional appearance of your windows, you can finish them off with either traditional brass, mottled antique brass, oil rubbed bronze, antique pewter, polished chrome, satin nickel, satin chrome, or polished stainless steel catches and sash lifts from our ironmongery range.
